Exploring the role of food as part of person-centred palliative and end-of-life care.

About

Palliative care is not just about providing good quality medical care; it is also about providing good quality life while dying. The role that food plays in palliative care is not understood. Most research on food in palliative care focuses on nutrition, not the importance of serving food that patients would prefer to eat. This study seeks to improve care at Bruyère by talking to patients, caregivers, staff in the Palliative Care Unit, and hospital decision-makers about the role and importance of food as part of palliative care and how we can better meet the needs of patients, including those from Indigenous and ethno-cultural minority groups at the Palliative Care Unit.
